Another great source of energy is you! Humans can use their own physical energy in place of a generator. I personally own a bike that I use to power my battery array. I can use my own power to literally make my own toast! Other versions have also been made for stair climbers and rowing machines. These are great options for powering small appliances and staying in shape.

If you don’t want to install a small gym in your house, there are other smaller, low-cost options to using human energy in your everyday life. Hand-crank flashlights and radios are available in many camping and electronic stores. There are even some hand-cranked radios with cell phone chargers attached. All you need to do is wind the handle and they run as they would on batteries or plugged into a socket.
